About Me
Melina Nakos (they/them) grew up in Silicon Valley in California to two immigrant parents, one from South America and the other from Greece. This surrounded them with not only technology and innovation but also a unique culture and love for diversity that would go on to inspire much of their work.
Melina went on to double major at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in Film and Television Production and Dramatic Writing, graduating in 2020 with concentrations in playwriting, screenwriting, and directing.
During their time at NYU, Melina honed their skills as a storyteller from a multifaceted approach. They worked on projects such as the LGBT+ web series, "Queen's English" as a co-director and associate producer, which is currently preparing for its second season.
Most recently, Melina has served as the Director of Photography on Aurelia’s music video “Wax.”
The bottom line in all of Melina’s work has always been tied to their passion for inclusion. As a quad amputee, member of the LGBT+ and Latin American community, and passionate ally, Melina dedicates their work for the betterment and empowerment of marginalized communities. Their stories are simultaneously accessible, entertaining, and effective, allowing for their voice to be heard in a manner that includes instead of isolates. Melina’s work insists on the ability of every audience member to have a real, human experience when consuming their work, walking away with a new perspective.

The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.
